I am happy to be able to reply to this correspondent's query. St. Andrew's School was formed after a public meeting which was held in 1855, at which attention was drawn to the fact that the Colony was still without a public school for English children, who were educationally less cared for than the Chinese. The School occupied a site in Kennedy Road, where the present Union Church now stands. The School lasted only a few years, and the site was bought for erection of the Church, which had previously been accommodated near Hollywood Road, as mentioned by "Towndweller" further on in this article.
